People taking up the part time leisure activity of gold prospecting are often confused at the wide range of offers of gold metal detectors for sale. Some of these metal detectors for gold are relatively inexpensive while those at the top range are unaffordable to other than the experienced successful prospector. An additional factor which adds to their confusion is that some gold metal detectors won’t be suitable for using over the specific terrain intended to be explored.
Here are four gold metal detectors for sale in 2018 that are highly regarded as being the best suitable metal detectors for finding gold for beginners and also for the more experienced prospectors.

2. Garrett AT Gold ( 2nd best choice for beginners )
Special features of this high performance detector ( picture below )
- All-metal mode offers deepest detection depth and sensitivity on even the smallest of nuggets.
- Graphic target analyzing shows the target’s conductivity and the detector’s discrimination pattern.
- Designed for use in wet, humid and dusty environments. Weatherproof housing can be immersed in water to 10-foot depth.
- Scale from 0 to 99; indicates a target metal’s conductivity for increased ability to distinguish targets from each other
- High resolution and iron discrimination features
- Adjustable threshold allows the user to manually adjust the audio threshold
(constant background sound) to better hear targets. - Proportional audio response and tone roll audio features provide more target information.
- Iron audio allows user to hear discriminated iron and to audibly identify problematic flat iron objects like bottle caps and washers
- Allows the user to manually adjust the detector’s ground balance to reduce the detrimental effects of ground mineralization.
- Ground balance feature that allows user to “spread” the ground balance setting to reduce the response to subtle ground variations.
- Fast track automatic feature that allows user to quickly ground balance the detector in mineralized soil conditions.
- Electronic pinpointing which is a non-motion all-metal mode feature used to precisely locate a detected target’s location in the ground.

Hi Gabriel,
It really depends on your level of experience with using a metal detector. If you have just started with the hobby of metal detecting I would suggest the Fisher Gold Bug Pro metal detector but if you are more experienced and want a metal detector with more advanced features my advice would be to get a Fisher Gold Bug 2.
Good luck with your metal detecting.
